About Me
Nicholas Grubic, BScH, Cert, MSc, is a PhD Student and Research Associate affiliated with the University of Toronto and Queen's University. His doctoral studies is supported by a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. He completed his Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Certificate in Business at Queen's University in 2019. He also completed his Master of Science in Epidemiology at Queen's University, specializing in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and cardiovascular epidemiology. His Master's research was supported by a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarship. His doctoral research is currently supported by the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology. Throughout his academic career, Nicholas' research has been funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Southeastern Ontario Academic Medical Organization, Canadian Cardiovascular Society, and AMS Healthcare.

Nicholas has published widely in reputable academic journals, including the Canadian Journal of Cardiology, British Journal of Sports Medicine, Current Cardiology Reports, and other leading medical journals. He has presented at various national and international meetings, including the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress, Society for Epidemiologic Research Meeting, European Society of Cardiology Congress, Canadian Heart Rhythm Society Annual General Meeting, among many others. Nicholas is an active trainee member of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, serving as a editorial board member for the Canadian Journal of Cardiology and Canadian Journal of Cardiology Open, as well as a trainee member for the Canadian Cardiovasuclar Society Trainee Commitee.

In addition to his academic endeavors, Nicholas is committed to exercising his social responsibility and engaging in extracurricular activities. He was a prior varsity athlete at Queen's University (rowing and triathlon) and competed for Team Ontario at the 2017 Canada Summer Games. He has held executive positions on various groups/committees, including the Queen's Science Undergraduate Research Journal and Science 2 Business Network. He has also volunteered with many non-profit organizations, including Kingston Gets Active, and at community events, including Motionball Marathon of Sport and Science Rendezvous. He is currently co-leading the Sponsorship and Community Outreach domain of the Heart and Stroke Foundation Young Leader's Commitee.
